The town of Frenchboro is located on Long Island, at the entrance of Blue Hill Bay, eight miles southeast of the town of Bass Harbor on Mount Desert Island. The island is two miles long by a mile and a half wide at its widest point, and consists of a total of 2,500 acres, roughly 1,000 of which are owned by Maine Coast Heritage Trust. The lobster fishing around Frenchboro provides families with the majority of their income.
