As a Community Development Officer, Andy is responsible for supporting Institute programming surrounding a diverse array of community development initiatives, including Island Fellows, the Energy program, and the organization's leadership development and support efforts.

In his role, Andy plans and carries out recruitment efforts and serves as a resource for the participants in these programs.

Andy joined the Island Institute after 14 years as a classroom teacher in public schools in western Maine, Camden, and St. George, where he focused on at-risk learners and place-based experiential education.
