Yvonne works closely with island and coastal schools and education organizations under our ‘Enhancing Education and Leadership’ strategic priority area. She works collaboratively to develop projects, support teacher professional development, and strengthen networks to address the unique educational challenges and opportunities schools face, and helps develop a strong Maine workforce. Yvonne also provides leadership and direction for the annual Island Teachers Conference—one of our signature events. 

Yvonne holds a BA in Fine Arts and Psychology from Connecticut College and an MA in Expressive Therapy from Lesley University. Prior to joining the Island Institute, she was the school counselor at the Vinalhaven School for 13 years and also served as the school counselor for Matinicus and North Haven for several years. She lives on the island of Vinalhaven with her family.
