The bronze plaque attached to a large granite boulder lists the names of 56 men, women and children who were connected to Chebeague and lost their lives in marine related events dating back to 1805.
The Eastern Illustrating collection is now housed at Penobscot Marine Museum, where photo archivist Kevin Johnson oversees the preservation and digitization of that collection, along with several other photographic collections.
Early in 1977, another new restaurant opened in the Old Port. This one on Middle Street had a tongue-in-cheek sign: “Carbur’s: Since 1977.” A tradition going all the way back to this year! Hilarious!
