The Compass Workforce Grant provides financial support (up to $500 per applicant) for young adults from Maine’s unbridged islands to help pay for workforce expenses associated with pursuing a certificate or credential that leads to high-value employment.

Covered expenses include: technical and vocational training programs, community college classes, online courses, apprenticeship programs, internship programs, materials/supplies (including tools, equipment, uniforms, books), and travel and lodging (including bus/train/airfare, mileage reimbursement and/or hotel or lodging costs associated with training programs).

We understand that opportunities can come up quickly and therefore have a rolling deadline of the first of each month, starting in December, and promise a decision within four weeks. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
